The sunshine will make a brief return to the Wyoming Valley, but rain is expected to wrap up the week.

The National Weather Service indicated that it was 23 degrees as of 7:54 a.m. at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport. Partly cloudy skies kicked off the morning for commuters.

Sunny skies are expected to stick around today, with a high near 44 degrees. Partly cloudy skies will follow into tonight, with a low around 32 degrees.

Partly sunny skies are predicted for Thursday, with a high near 60 degrees.

Clouds will move back into the region on Thursday night, with showers becoming likely after 2 a.m. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is expected, and Thursday night’s low will be around 49 degrees.

Showers will continue to be likely on Friday under mostly cloudy skies. No rainfall amounts have been predicted, and Friday’s high will be near 60 degrees. Rain will continue to be likely into Friday night, with a low around 38 degrees.
