WILKES-BARRE — A man formerly from Sugar Notch pleaded guilty Wednesday in Luzerne County Court for his role in a robbery at Wendy’s Restaurant in Wilkes-Barre Township more than two years ago.
Aaron Flowers, 26, last known address as Main Street, pleaded guilty to three counts of robbery.
Flowers is the second suspect in the robbery to plead guilty.
Kristopher Rasmussen, 29, of Melbourne, Florida, pleaded guilty on March 18 to two counts of robbery.
Judge Tina Polachek Gartley will sentence the two men at a later date after arrangements are made with two prisons in New York.
Court records in New York say Flowers is serving an eight-year prison sentence and Rasmussen is serving a five-year prison sentence for a robbery in New York City.
Rasmussen is being held at the Riverview Correctional Facility in Odgensburg, New York, and Flowers is housed at the Franklin Correctional Facility, Malone County, New York.
Wilkes-Barre Township police said Flowers and Rasmussen, armed with a handgun, ambushed two Wendy’s employees when they exited a rear door to take out trash on Jan. 12, 2013.
Flowers and Rasmussen forced employees to surrender their wallets, purses and keys, and barricaded the employees in a freezer, according to the criminal complaint.
Employees came out of the freezer after 15 minutes and one of them realized his Saturn was missing. Police said the car was recovered in Pittston Township.
