Local roundup: Wyoming Seminary tennis posts another big win

The Wyoming Seminary girls tennis team picked up another key early season victory by outlasting fellow WVC contender Holy Redeemer 3-2 on Friday at Kirby Park.

Seminary swept doubles play as the teams of Christina Cikowski/Dominica Delayo and Paige Parsons/Riley Jensen won in straight sets while Shailee Desai prevailed at third singles.

Redeemer got hard-fought, three-set victories in singles from Camryn Cassetori and Tea Amerise.

Dallas 3, Berwick 2

The doubles duos of Reese Lewandowski/Carolina Stallard and Liz Mead/Gabby Avila helped the Mountaineers edge the Bulldogs. Morgan Landau also won for Dallas at No. 3 singles.

Sydney Lloyd and Genevieve Johnson triumphed for Berwick at first and second singles, respectively.

Hazleton Area 3, Wyoming Valley West 2

The Cougars won all three singles matches as Lily Nowak, Alyssa Mazurek and Sophia Sebo led the way.

The Spartans’ team of Julia Franks/Morgan Shedletsky won at No. 1 doubles.

Hazleton Area 163, Crestwood 171

Jordan Pick shot a 39 for the Cougars to earn medalist honors. Jeremy Harper led the Comets with a 40 at Valley Country Club.

Wyoming Valley West 200, Nanticoke 222

Nanticoke’s Austin Norton shot the low score with a 44, but Danny Polacheck (46) and the Spartans earned the match win.
