Trailing at the half, Crestwood came out of the locker room and outscored Tunkhannock by 16 in the second half to earn a 35-20 win on the road on Friday night.

Reeling from a lopsided loss to Nanticoke Area the week before, Crestwood spotted Tunkhannock an early lead in this one before the Comets found themselves down 14-13 at halftime.

But Crestwood regrouped on defense and held a Tigers offense that put up 32 points in a loss last week to just six second-half points to earn the victory.

Crestwood improved to 2-5 on the season, matching Tunkhannock’s record.

North Penn-Mansfield 54, GAR 14

The host Panthers put up 33 points in the first quarter en route to a 40-8 lead at halftime and a non-conference victory over the Grenadiers.

North Penn-Mansfield’s defense did as much damage in that big first quarter as its offense, scoring two touchdowns. Already up 14-0, Roch Minnich returned a fumble for a score and Garrett David came up with a pick-six from midfield to make it a 27-0 lead before GAR (1-6) got on the board.

Justice Lomas made that happen when he got loose for a 55-yard rushing touchdown, followed by a two-point conversion from Rodsheen Ayer. The Grenadiers added a passing score in the second half.

David finished the night with four total touchdowns to lead the Panthers (5-2) — two rushing, one receiving and one defensive.
