WEST PITTSTON — Bree Bednarski and Nico Vasquez led the way Thursday when the Wyoming Area track and field teams swept their Wyoming Valley Conference Division 2 openers from visiting Hanover Area.

The boys swept all three relays and won 10 of 11 events that were conducted on the track.
Ethan Crake, Ryan Murphy and Michael Murphy joined Vasquez in leading the victory. Crake won both hurdles races. Ryan Murphy won the 100 and was on two winning relays. Michael Murphy won the 200 and was on the 1600 relay.
Pittston Area’s start of the Division 1 season was delayed for the second time when a meet at Crestwood, which had been scheduled for Tuesday was moved back to April 17.
