The winter coat probably won’t be needed this week, but keep the rain gear handy — it’s shaping up to be a warm, but rainy week in the Wyoming Valley.

The National Weather Service indicated that it was 37 degrees as of 6:54 a.m. at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport. Mostly clear skies kicked off the new week for commuters this morning.

Mostly sunny skies are predicted for today, with a high near 64 degrees. Clouds will move back into the region tonight, along with a chance of rain heading into early Tuesday morning. Tonight’s low will be around 49 degrees.

Rain will be likely after 8 a.m. on Tuesday, with up to a quarter of an inch possible. Tuesday’s high will be near 60 degrees.

Rain will continue to be likely into Tuesday night, with another quarter of an inch of rain possible. Tuesday night’s low will be around 45 degrees.

A 50 percent chance of rain will persist into Wednesday, with cloudy skies predicted otherwise. Wednesday’s high will be near 49 degrees.

That 50 percent chance of rain will carry on into Wednesday night, with the low dropping to around 38 degrees.
