Penn State Wilkes-Barre honors students recently visited The Mauna Kea Observatory on the Big Island of Hawaii as part of their honors course on global warming that covers places where significant measurements of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere are measured. The course began in January and will conclude at the end of the semester. The students are learning the process of gathering relative data and discovering the long-range implications of global warming. Students also study current trends in the earth’s warming and potential threats to populations and geography. The week-long field trip was under the direction of Penn State Wilkes-Barre honors coordinators, William Bachman, senior instructor in communications, and Theresa Clemente, instructor in business.
