WILKES-BARRE — An autopsy Monday on the body of Larry Herbert revealed he died from multiple traumatic injuries due to being struck by a vehicle, according to the Luzerne County Coroner’s Office.

Herbert, 61, of Wilkes-Barre, was struck while crossing Hazle Avenue near Claire’s Bar in Hanover Township at about 10 p.m. Friday.

Township police said the driver of the vehicle that struck Herbert failed to stay at the scene.

Herbert was rushed to Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center where he died, Coroner Bill Lisman said.

Lisman ruled Herbert’s death a homicide.

Police did not release further information about the investigation.
