John Gruver and Anthony Barbore won at first doubles in three sets to give Wyoming Valley West a 3-2 victory over Coughlin in Wyoming Valley Conference boys tennis on Monday.
Gruver and Barbore won 4-6, 6-2, 6-4. Dan Taren and Brian Grodzki won in singles for the Spartans.
MMI Prep 4, Hazleton Area 1
Nick Dilov and Jonathan Smith won in singles and the team of Lew Dryfoos and Mike Eisenhart won at doubles for MMI. The Preppers’ other win was via default at No. 2 doubles.
Wyoming Seminary 4, Crestwood 1
The Blue Knights won four matches in straight sets, including singles wins by Eamon Gibbons and Andrew Schukraft.
Berwick 5, Holy Redeemer 0
The Bulldogs dropped just one set en route to a win over Holy Redeemer.
Luke Whitenight won the No. 1 singles match 6-3, 6-4 over Josh Wychock.
In doubles action, the Berwick team of Guiseppe Baratta and Nick Oliver won No. 1 doubles 6-4, 7-5, 6-4.
