KINGSTON — Tyler Yankosky threw a one-hitter and struck out seven as Wyoming Valley West edged Pittston Area 2-1 in Wyoming Valley Conference baseball on Monday.
The Spartans managed just three hits and needed a run in the sixth to take the lead. Ryan Hogan had a triple and an RBI for Valley West. Justin Montalvo also had an RBI.
C.J. Pisack had an RBI and Pittston Area’s only hit. Losing pitcher John Faggotti allowed just three hits.
Wyoming Area 8, Tunkhannock 0
Zach Lopatka and Jeremy Zezza combined on a five-hit shutout and Evan Musto drove home two runs as the Warriors rolled.
Lopatka, Zezza and Cory Lescavage all scored twice in Wyoming Area’s victory, while Joe Gavenonis and Tyler Mitchell both had two hits.
Cody Brown had two of Tunkhannock’s five hits.
Northwest 6, GAR 3
Eric Evans tripled, doubled and drove in three runs as Northwest defeated host GAR.
Derek Price picked up the win, allowing one earned run over five innings of work.
Robbie Shinal had three hits for GAR.
Hazleton Area 7, Crestwood 5
Dante Biasi knocked in two runs and picked up the save on the mound as Hazleton Area held off Crestwood.
Jeremy Bludgeon also had two RBI for the Cougars.
Chase Jones homered, doubled and drove in three runs for Crestwood.
Lake-Lehman 9, Berwick 7
Lake-Lehman squandered a five-run lead, but rallied to defeat visiting Berwick.
Zach Brucher led the Black Knights, going 3 for 4 with three RBI. Jacob Tomolonis knocked in two runs. Tommy Williams tossed three innings of relief to pick up the win.
Tyler Horsefield had two RBI for Berwick.
