After dropping a 6-5 decision in game one, the Wilkes University baseball team rebounded to post a 7-3 victory over Misericordia University in game two to earn a split Monday afternoon at Tambur Field.

Wilkes used RBI hits from Matthew Reese, Ryan Herbst, Joshua Slocum and James Brown to score six runs in the seventh inning of the second game.

D.J. Navoczynski led Misericordia to victory in the first game with three RBI while Mike Comerford drove in two runs and Brian Eshleman added an RBI.

King’s sweeps Mt. St. Vincent

The Monarchs swept a doubleheader from visiting Mt. St. Vincent 5-4 and 10-1.

Greg Bartle was 3-for-3 with two RBI and Joe Civello was 2-for-2 with a RBI for King’s in the opener. In the nightcap, Rick Brandes was 3-for-3 with four RBI while Joe Zito was 2-for-3 with three runs scored.

COLLEGE TRACK

Misericordia junior Amy Viti, a Hanover Area graduate, has been named the MAC Track & Field Athlete of the Week.

Viti won at 800 and was part of the winning 4×400 relay team at the York Twilight Invitational. Her 800 time of 2:14.10 was a school record and ECAC Championships qualifier.

COLLEGE SOFTBALL

Misericordia sweeps Scranton

Misericordia defeated Scranton 3-2 in nine innings and won the nightcap 3-1.

Melanie Quintanilla led the Cougars with two hits in the opener while Whitney Ellenberg and Lori Brennan drove in one run each. Alissa Steier threw all nine innings with seven strikeouts.

Megan Hardy powered the second victory with a two-run blast. Kristi Seiler also drove in a run.
