Emily Malone sprinted and vaulted her way to a four-victory day as the Hazleton Area girls track and field team beat Berwick, 109.5-40.5 at the Berwick Middle School track on Monday.

Malone, a state medalist in the pole vault last year, won that event by clearing a height of 9-6. She also blazed to wins in the 100 dash, the pole vault and ran the anchor on the winning 400 relay team.

For Berwick, Taylor Montana set a new school record by throwing the shot put 40 1/2 feet. That easily broke the old mark of 38-11 set by Kaleena Lockard in 2001. Alexis Steeber also won three events for the Bulldogs, capturing the 100 hurdles, triple jump and long jump.

Pittston Area 110, Tunkhannock 40

Abby Norwillo set a school record by clearing 9-6 in the pole vault on a banner day for the Patriots.

Mia Cain tied a Pittston Area record by clearing a height of 5-4 in the high jump and Sydney Williams also matched the school standard in the 100 hurdles with a time of 16.1.

Madison Mimnaugh was a four-time winner for Pittston Area, capturing the 400 dash, the 800 run and leading off the winning 3,200 relay team before anchoring the 1,600 relay team’s victory.

Crestwood 97, Coughlin 53

Kailee Traficante went the distance, winning the 1,600 and 3,200 runs to spark the Comets.

Nathaniela Bourdeau won the 100 dash and 300 hurdles for Coughlin.

Boys Track and Field

Muhammod Chesson won three individual events and Nick Stavinsky captured two more as Coughlin raced past Crestwood, 131-19.

Chesson’s wins came in the 100 dash, triple jump and long jump and he also anchored the winning 1,600 relay team. Stavinski came through with victories in both hurdles events.

Jacob Walsh picked up the lone victory for Crestwood, in the high jump.

Pittston Area 83, Tunkhannock 67

Freshman Naseem Guillaume won two individual events and teamed on the winning 400 relay to help the Patriots pull out a tight one.

Guillaume also captured both hurdles events.

Jack Tidball won the 1,600 run and 3,200 run for Tunkhannock.

Hazleton Area 108, Berwick 42

Stefan Scalleat was a four-time winner as the Mountaineers breezed past the Bulldogs.

Scalleat was first across the finish line in th 100 and 200 dashes and was part of two winning relay teams.

Dylan Gearinger captured the 3,200 run and anchored the winning 3,200 relay team for Berwick.
