BEAR CREEK TWP. — A resolution laying out the roles and responsibilities for emergency responders and Bear Creek Township passed easily at Monday night’s supervisors meeting.

The township supervisors met with the emergency responders directly to draw up the policy and discussed the resolution at the meeting.

Supervisors’ Chairman Gary Zingaretti said the new resolution changes little in the existing arrangement between the current emergency responders for fire, rescue and ambulance.

Instead, it puts into writing some existing understandings between the township and responders, such as how much financial support the township will provide and which responding entity is in charge when more than one emergency services organization responds.

The agreement also calls for the emergency responders to follow the national codes of conduct for firefighters and EMS responders.

In other business, the board noted that representatives of a company contracted to do bridge replacement work on Suscon Road will attend the next supervisors’ meeting to explain the work that will be done and the temporary changes to traffic patterns that will be in place in the area during the construction.

In a follow up to a matter raised previously by a resident, the supervisors agreed to begin the process of investigating the feasibility of a turning lane at Laurelbrook Road and Route 115.

The process will start with a traffic study to determine if the turning lane meets PennDOT requirements, followed by the design of plans and submission for PennDOT approval before any actual work could occur.
