LEHMAN TWP. — Emily Johns got the Lake-Lehman track and field season off to an impressive start.

The sophomore thrower set a school shot put record April 2 when Lake-Lehman defeated Northwest, 98.5-51.5, in a Wyoming Valley Conference opener.

Johns broke a 13-year-old record on her first attempt of the season and then surpassed it for a new record of 42-7 ¾. Her three attempts in the meet represented the best three efforts in school history.

Johns also won the discus and finished second to teammate Cayle Spencer in the javelin.

Katey Supey won the 100- and 200-meter dashes and ran on the winning 400-meter relay to contribute to the victory.
