PLAINS TWP. — A man formerly from Plymouth was found dead from an apparent heroin overdose inside a motel room on Sunday, township police said.

The Luzerne County Coroner’s Office identified the man as 41-year-old Christopher Winarski.

Winarski also resided in Johnstown, Cambria County.

Police responded to the Melody Motel on state Route 315 at about 5:50 p.m. for a man who overdosed on heroin. Winarski was pronounced dead at the scene by Deputy Coroner Tom Moran.

A woman in the motel room, Laura Lorditch, 51, of Revloc, Cambria County, was taken into custody when police learned she was wanted by the Cambria County Sheriff’s Department.

Online court records indicate an arrest warrant was issued for Lorditch by a Cambria County judge on Jan. 15 on a disorderly conduct case.

An autopsy was not performed on Winarski.

The cause and manner of death is pending return of toxicology tests.
