Don’t put the rain gear away just yet — rain is still expected to fall in the Wyoming Valley leading into the weekend.

The National Weather Service indicated that it was 39 degrees as of 6:54 a.m. at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport. Mostly cloudy skies kicked off the day, a trend that will likely persist into the weekend.

Cloudy skies are expected today, with a slight chance of rain showers after 3 p.m. Today’s high will be around 46 degrees.

Showers will become likely tonight, along with a possible thunderstorm. Up to a quarter of an inch of rain is expected, and tonight’s low will be around 43 degrees.

A chance of showers will be possible before noon on Friday — rain will then become likely between noon and 5 p.m. Up to a quarter of an inch of rain is possible, and Friday’s high will be near 68 degrees.

The chance of showers will persist before 7 p.m. on Friday, with partly cloudy skies predicted otherwise. Friday night’s low will be around 44 degrees.
