JACKSON TWP. — Township police arrested a man from Pittston on felony domestic assault charges after his girlfriend claimed he kicked and stomped on her early Sunday morning.
Anthony Morreale, 32, of Depew Street, remained jailed Monday at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $30,000 bail on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, terroristic threats, harassment and disorderly conduct.
Court records say Sunday’s arrest of Morreale is his third for domestic assault against Christina Levandosky, 33, since June 2012.
In the two previous cases, the domestic assault charges were dismissed when Levandosky opted not to testify, court records say.
According to the latest criminal complaint:
Levandosky called 911 at 8:20 a.m. claiming she was hiding in the basement of her Hillside Road residence after being beaten for several hours by Morreale. She told 911 she was able to call for help after Morreale had fallen asleep.
Police said Levandosky had bruises to her arms, neck, legs and possibly suffered a broken foot.
Levandosky allegedly told police she arrived at her residence with Morreale after the two had been at the Checkerboard Inn in Kingston Township. She claimed Morreale dragged her throughout the house by her hair, threw a glass jar at her head, and repeatedly punched, kicked and stomped on her, the complaint says.
Police allege in the complaint Levandosky reported Morreale took her cell phone and house phone, and threatened to kill her when he removed his belt and attempted to wrap it around her neck.
Levandosky claimed the physical abuse lasted for 4 1/2 hours and was only able to call for help when Morreale had fallen asleep, the complaint says.
Morreale told police Levandosky struck him in the face when she got angry about a text message he received. He claimed Levandosky injured her foot when she tried to kick him but instead struck a coffee table, according to the complaint.
Court records say Morreale was free on $5,000 bail he posted on Nov. 13 in connection to his arrest by township police on Nov. 1 when he allegedly caused a disturbance inside Levandosky’s residence. Morreale is facing a disorderly conduct charge in county court while charges of terroristic threats, simple assault and criminal trespass were dismissed against him at the preliminary hearing.
County prosecutors were forced to withdraw charges of aggravated assault, simple assault and theft filed by Wilkes-Barre police against Morreale when Levandosky opted not to testify at a trial in county court in March 2013. City police alleged Morreale injured Levandosky’s neck with a knife during a disturbance on Darling Street on June 26, 2012, court records say.
