Freshman Sam Sweitzer brought home Sujay Murthy with a single for the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift Wyoming Seminary to an 8-7 walk-off win over MMI Prep on Monday in a WVC Division 3 game.
Doug Thomas started the winning rally when he was hit by a pitch, Murthy came in to run and was sacrificed to second base before Sweitzer’s game-winner.
Roy Phillips clubbed a two-run homer as part of a six-run rally that lifted Sem (2-3 WVC) into a 7-5 lead in the fourth inning, but MMI Prep rallied back to tie the game with single runs in the fifth and sixth innings.
Alexandre Sabourin picked up the victory in relief by working two shutout innings.
Ibby Bains went 4-for-4 with two runs scored for MMI Prep (0-1), while Cory Rogers had two RBI.
Wyoming Area 8, Dallas 2
Cory Lescavage doubled and tripled and drove in three runs to finish 3-for-4 from the plate as the Warriors (2-0 WVC) prevailed in a matchup of the top two teams from Division 2 from last season.
Joe Gavenonis was 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI and earned the win in relief.
Charles Giacometti doubled and scored for Dallas (1-1).
Hanover Area 8, Meyers 1
Christian Pack went 3-for-3 and scored two runs as the Hawkeyes (3-0 WVC) picked up their 43rd straight league win.
Austin Gately and Jake Peters both drove home two runs and had doubles, while Pack and John Morgan also had RBIs. Kyle Kowalski struck out seven in a complete game victory.
Ryan Gilgallon (two doubles) and O.J. Almonte (two hits, RBI) led the Mohawks (1-2).
Nanticoke 10, Northwest 2
Joe Olszyk launched a solo home run, Tyler Kotch drove in two and Alec Norton had two hits as the Trojans (2-1 WVC) erupted for nine runs over the first four innings.
Kyle Pokrinchak pitched a complete-game six-hitter and struck out five.
Logan Womelsdorf went 2-for-2, scored one run and drove home the other for Northwest (2-1).
Holy Redeemer 10, GAR 3
Matt Dacey got things started with a three-run homer and Keaton Dolan added a two-run double as the Royals (3-1 WVC) jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead.
Justin Renfer drove in three runs.
