EXETER: The Cosmopolitan Seniors will meet at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 21, in St. Anthony’s Center. Hosts and hostesses are Theresa Bekanich, MaryAnn Markowski, Fran Poluske and Cheryl Pipher.

At the previous meeting, Theresa Blasavage won the special game, Fran Lepo won the jackpot prize and Helen Zarychta won the basket raffle.

The club will celebrate its 40th anniversary with a Mass at St. Anthony’s Church on Tuesday, May 12, followed by a catered party at the Parish Center. Irene and John Kovaleski are in charge of the arrangements.

Casino trips are planned to the Sands on Thursday, May 7, and the Hollywood Casino on Wednesday, June 17. Pick ups are in Exeter and Pittston. Club membership is not required to go on the trips. Call Johanna at 570-655-2720 for reservations and information.

FALLS: Members of the Falls Active Adult Center, State Route 92, Exeter Township, recently held a Lunch and Learn given by Christine Ostroski, director of Candy’s Place. Hats were crocheted by club members and were donated to Candy’s Place along with other items. This project was coordinated by Elaine Pendleton.

There will be a volunteer recognition luncheon and program on Wednesday, April 15. State Representative Karen Boback has coordinated a program for Crime Victims’ Rights Day.

At 11 a.m. on Friday, April 24, Teresa Osborne, acting secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Aging, will be the featured speaker. Also, the Bureau of Consumer Protection, a federal organization based in Washington D.C., will have representatives here to provide helpful information for seniors. The Wyoming County Commissioners will be here as well to give a citation for Crime Victims’ Rights Day in Wyoming County.

The center is offering free blood pressure screenings by Joan Krispin, licensed practical nurse and admissions director from the Meadows, 12:20-12:45 p.m. on Thursday, April 30. She will also host bingo games 12:50-1:30 p.m.

LUZERNE/WYOMING COUNTIES: This year’s 48th annual dinner dance, sponsored by the Area Agency on Aging for Luzerne and Wyoming Counties, will be held from noon to 4 p.m. on Thursday, May 7, at the Genetti Hotel and Conference Center, Market Street, Wilkes-Barre. The doors will open at 11:30 a.m.

“An Affair to Remember” is the theme for this year’s dance and the entertainment will be provided by King Henry and the Showmen. Dinner selections are prime rib au jus, chicken cordon bleu or sole with stuffed crab imperial, accompanied by salad, potato, vegetable, coffee, tea and dessert. A cash bar will also be available. Door prizes will be drawn and there will be a grand prize.

Ticket prices for individuals older than 60 are $21 and $23 for those younger than 60. Tickets can be obtained at any of the 17 centers or by calling Rhonda Adams at 570-822-1158 ext. 3337.

PITTSTON: The St. Joseph’s Senior Social Club will meet at 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 16, at Mount Carmel Center on William Street. Servers are Theresa Chuimento, Rose Marie Corsaletti, Dorothy Crispino and Netta Deeb. Servers next month are Madeline Amico, Evelyn DeFaveri, Gloria DeRosa and Josephine Fasciana.

There will be a trip to the Renault Winery on Wednesday, July 18. There will be a tour of the winery, wine tasting, dinner and a short drive to Resorts Casino in Atlantic City with free slot play.

A trip to “The Spirit of Philadelphia” is planned for Thursday, Sept. 10. There will be a narrated cruise on the Delaware River with dinner, coffee and more. Following the meal, a stop will be made at the Sugar House Casino, where there will be free slot play.

Plans are underway for the annual picnic scheduled for Thursday, July 16, at the Checkerboard Inn in Dallas.

PLAINS TWP.: The Plains Senior Citizens Project Head will select a committee for a Mother’s Day party at the next meeting.

At the previous meeting, a motion was made to hold the June picnic on Wednesday, June 17, at the Plains Lions Pavilion. Mike Boncheck is chairperson for the event. Final arrangements will be made at the next meeting.

A trip to Woodloch Pines for a smorgasbord will take place on Friday, Aug. 7. There will be a musical review of the songs of the 80’s. The price for the trip is $75. Members and non-members can made reservations by calling Mike Boncheck at 570-823-2871.

A trip to the Sands Casino is scheduled for Thursday, May 7. The cost of this trip is $20 with a rebate of $20 and a $5 food voucher. Anyone wishing to make this trip can call Mike at 570-823-2871 for details.

The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 15. Host and hostesses are Bob Mitchell, Nancy Mahill, Dominick Pape, Antoinette Pascucci and Virginia Pasquariello. They are asked to be at the school by 11:30 a.m. to set up refreshments.
