WILKES-BARRE — Utility work could result in some traffic delays on Thursday on Washington Street.

City spokeswoman Liza Prokop said in an email that UGI Utilities will begin an upgrade project on the existing gas line on Washington Street, from South to Market Streets. The project, which will start on South Street, is expected to last approximately six weeks with some evening work included.

Drivers should seek alternate routes to avoid delays where lane restrictions and traffic pattern modifications are occurring.
