DALLAS — The Back Mountain Memorial Library offers events, programs and workshops geared towards self-improvement and personal enrichment. However, now it’s time for the library to experience its own “spring makeover.”
All libraries in Luzerne County will undergo a transfer to an improved patron check out system. This newly-designed program will provide library staff with improved tools for service, advanced hold searches and user friendly assistance.
Because of this transition, patrons will not be allowed to checkout any items, place holds, renew materials or extend due dates on Monday, April 20; Tuesday, April 21; and Wednesday, April 22. The library will be closed until 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 23 to allow time for re-entry of records.
We sincerely appreciate your patience (and promise you will love the new online search catalog). If you have any questions regarding this transformation, call the library at 570-675-1182.
And if you’re still thinking about doing something fresh for spring at your own home, be sure to pre-register for our spring garden workshop:
“Expressing Your Personality in the Garden” workshop will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 9. Your garden is an expression of yourself and what better way to get “Spring Fever” than to join Luzerne County Master Gardeners Jean Kolojejchick and Roseann Nardone from Penn State Extension and members of the Back Mountain Bloomers Club as they detail how to add plants, structures and accessories to your garden that reflect your distinctive glow
Reminder to parents:
Pennsylvania’s One Book, Every Young Child 2015 selection is “Number One Sam,” written and illustrated by Greg Pizzoli. Published in 2014 by Disney Hyperion Books, this story is about a competitive race-car driving dog who learns that some things are more important than being number one. This is the 10th year for this valuable program that highlights the importance of early literacy development in preschoolers. In celebration, a special program will be held from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 14 in the Children’s Room of the library. All preschool children are welcome to attend!
Call the library to register for this very important yet fun-filled program.
Each family will receive a paperback copy of the book, bookmarks, stickers and a family fun and activity guide.
