PLAINS TWP. — John Fagotti tossed a complete game shutout as Pittston Area knocked off Coughlin 5-0 on Tuesday in a WVC Division 1 baseball game at Hilldale Park.

Fagotti struck out five and walked two, scattering seven singles in the win. Kyle Turonis and Kyle O’Fier each finished 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI for the Patriots (1-2 WVC).

E.J. Slavish and Dave Ceklosky had two hits apiece for the Crusaders (0-4).

Postponements

The rest of Tuesday’s WVC baseball schedule was postponed.

Wyoming Valley West at Crestwood and Tunkhannock at Dallas will be made up today. Berwick at Wyoming Area is scheduled for Friday.

Boys Lacrosse

Dallas 18, North Pocono 1

Dallas received five goals from Corey Metz, four goals from Omar Nijmeh and another three goals from Matt Ross as they cruised past North Pocono by a score of 18-1. Riley Lougee had the lone goal of the night for North Pocono.

Tunkhannock 10, Wyoming Area 4

Matt Dymond scored five goals and recorded one assist in the Tigers’ win.

Teammate Zack Greenip finished with three goals and one assist, while Sean Andres chipped in with two goals and two assists. Kurtis Carichner made seven saves in the win.

Wyoming Area’s Jake Urban and Sammy Greenfield finished with two goals and one assist.

Girls Lacrosse

Wyoming Area 7, Tunkhannock 6 OT

Jordan Kelly scored the game-winning goal to lift the Warriors past the Tigers in overtime for their first win in their first season.

Kelly finished with five goals, whle teamamte Claudia Waltz scored two goals. Emily Cheskiewicz made 10 saves in the win. Tunkhannock’s Makayla Franko and Ashli Quick each scored two goals.

Boys Tennis

Pittston Area 3, Coughlin 2

Pittston Area’s Christian Charney, Jason Homschek and Jonathon Durling all brought home wins in their singles matchups as Patriots went on to win over Coughlin, 3-2.
