Theresa Rose Kloeker and Robert Lawrence Gawlas were united in marriage Aug. 6, 2016 at Saint Mary’s Church of the Immaculate Conception, Wilkes-Barre, by Monsignor Joseph G. Rauscher, great uncle of the groom.

The bride is the daughter of Terry and Regina Kloeker, Mountain Top. She is the granddaughter of Allen and the late Mary Kay Bayley, Mountain Top; Matthew and the late Martha Kloeker, Edgewood, Kentucky; and Gerald and the late Dorothy Mrozinski, Mountain Top.

The groom is the son of Robert N. and Cathy Gawlas, Shavertown. He is the grandson of Theresa Gawlas and the late Robert N. Gawlas Sr., Wilkes-Barre, and the late Lawrence and Catherine Newhart, Shavertown.

The bride, escorted by her father, chose her friend, Jennifer Sobeck, as her maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Catherine Gawlas, sister of the groom; Kaitlyn Waskiewicz, cousin of the bride; and Elizabeth Klassner and Amanda Gongleski, friends of the bride. Mia Hillard and Delaney Sheperis, nieces of the bride, were flower girls.

The groom chose his brother, David Gawlas, as his best man. Groomsmen were Jeffrey Kloeker, brother of the bride; Ken Newhart, cousin of the groom; and Adam Karwaski and Matthew Austin, friends of the groom. Connor Hillard, nephew of the bride, was ring bearer.

Scriptural readings were given by Carol Rama, godmother of the groom, and Eileen Barney, godmother of the bride. Intercessions were read by Stephen Gawlas, godfather of the groom. Offertory gifts were presented by Alyssa Gawlas, cousin of the groom, and Charles Kloeker, cousin of the bride.

An evening cocktail hour and reception was held at Genetti’s Catering, Hazleton. The rehearsal dinner, held at the Checkerboard Inn, Shavertown, was hosted by the parents of the groom. A bridal shower, hosted by the bridesmaids and the mother of the bride, was held at Andy’s Diner, Plains.

Theresa is a 2009 graduate of Holy Redeemer High School and a 2016 graduate of Wilkes University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in early childhood and elementary education, with a minor in reading and concentration in special education. She is currently employed as a substitute teacher in the Dallas and Crestwood School Districts.

Robert is a 2009 graduate of Holy Redeemer High School and a 2013 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, where he earned a Bachelor of the Arts degree in political science. He earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 2016. He is currently employed as an associate attorney at the law firm of Rosenn, Jenkins & Greenwald L.L.P., Wilkes-Barre.
