Gergel, Brakefield united in marriage


Tiffany Marie Gergel and Joshua David Brakefield were united in marriage on June 23, 2017 in St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church, Kingston, by the Rev. Michael Prodonets.

The bride is the daughter of George and Donna Gergel, Shavertown. She is the granddaughter of the late Frank and Ruth Sheperis, Wyoming, and the late John and Mary Gergel, Shavertown.

The groom is the son of David and Bonnie Brakefield, Trucksville. He is the grandson of the late Ruth Kanarr, Shavertown, and the late Joan Adams, West Pittston, and the late Charles Brakefield, Florida.

The bride was escorted down the aisle and given in marriage by her father. She chose Ashlie Morris as her maid of honor. Ashley Ide, cousin of the bride; Maria Caperelli, future sister-in-law; Ashley Hoover, Christine Marcos, Kristin Augustine and Megan Pasone, friends of the bride, were her bridesmaids.

The groom chose Kyle Hession as best man. Groomsmen were his brothers Jason Brakefield and Seth Brakefield; Zachary Deubler, cousin of the groom; Michael Gergel, brother of the bride; Sean Teer, Jon Considine, friends of the groom.

The bride was honored at a display shower given by her mother and her aunt, Linda Stal. It was hosted by her mother, aunt and bridesmaids at the Fox Hill Country Club in Exeter.

The parents of the groom hosted the rehearsal dinner at Leggio’s Italian Ristorante in Dallas.

The wedding reception was held at Apple Tree Terrace, Newberry Estates Country Club, Dallas.

Tiffany is a 2005 graduate of Dallas High School and received her bachelor of arts degree in elementary and early childhood education from King’s College in 2009. She received her master’s degree in reading from King’s College in 2013. Tiffany is employed as a first grade teacher at Poquoson City Public School in Virginia.

Joshua is a 2003 graduate of Dallas High School and attended Penn State University. He is employed at Hunting and Ingalls Industries, Newport News, Virginia, as a welder.

The couple live in Gloucester, Va., and are planning a winter honeymoon.
