Callie Jean Whitesell, of Hunlock Creek, and Albert M. Gensel III, of Shickshinny, pledged their love and devotion to each other on Oct. 15, 2016, in a self-uniting ceremony.
The bride is the Daughter of Damon and Bridget Whitesell II, of Hunlock Creek. She is the granddaughter of Jean Whitesell, of Hunlock Creek; the late Damon Whitesell; and the late Louis and Rhea Balazs, of Berwick.
The groom is the son of Albert Gensel Jr, of Wilkes Barre, and Theresa Klug, of Glen Lyon. He is the grandson of Laura Gensel, of Berwick; the late Albert Gensel Sr.; Mary Klug, of Wilkes Barre; and the late Richard Klug.
An outdoor Fall wedding was held at a private residence in Hunlock Creek on a beautiful blue October afternoon. The families and guests sat in a circle with the bride and groom in the middle during the ceremony. Each guest took part in the ceremony by passing the rings around to bless while the couple said their vows to each another.
The bride was escorted through a pair of vintage doors from her family’s farm house to her awestruck smiling groom. She carried a self-made bouquet of white and green hydrangeas and maroon and green wildflowers and vines. She wore a self-made head piece and blue sued pumps. The bride chose her lifelong friend Brittany Rooney as her matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Rachel Whitesell, cousin of the bride; Kate Magni; Carissa DeFrain; Denise Schloder; and Jessica Palmer.
The groom chose his lifelong friend Eric Bonk as his best man. Groomsmen were Bridger Whitesell, brother of the bride; Christopher Buchanan; Joseph Wentz; Mack Wydawski; and Rich Wisnewski.
The bride and groom recognized the groom’s late sister Miranda Klug and the brides late godmother Jann Krushka whom both passed unexpectedly in the months leading up to the wedding. They were honored with a private lantern lighting at the end of the night with just the bride and groom in the middle of the field to send their love to them. Although absent in physical measures their love and warmth was felt by all who attended.
The bride was honored with an Enchanted Garden Party in her Grandmothers back yard on a beautiful August afternoon. The shower was given by both families.
A lighthearted and laid back rehearsal dinner was held under the tent for the reception the night before.
The bride is a 2008 graduate of Northwest Area High School and a 2012 graduate of Misericordia University with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and special education. She is currently finishing her master’s degree through Wilmington University in reading specialist and ESOL literacy.
The groom is a 2010 graduate of Northwest Area High School and served five years in the U.S. Army after graduation including one tour in Afghanistan. He is currently pursuing his bachelor’s degree in welding and fabrication engineering technology.
The couple resides in Canton.
