Metzger, Giovannini united in marriage


Rachel Metzger and Theodore Andrew Giovannini were united in marriage on Sept. 9, 2017, at The Hotel Lafayette in Buffalo, N.Y., by Michelle Snyder, ordained minister.

The bride is the daughter of Janice and Barry Metzger, of Hudson. She is the granddaughter of Mary Koval and the late Thomas Koval, of Wilkes-Barre, and Beatrice Metzger and the late Robert Metzger, of Forty Fort.

The groom is the son of Lorraine and Ted Giovannini, of Hudson. He is the grandson of the late Helen and Paul Belles, of Plains Township, and the late Anne and Ted Giovannini, of Parsons.

The bride was escorted down the aisle by her father. She chose Dr. Kelsey Paciotti as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Dr. Emily Branstetter and Bridget Koval, cousins of the bride; Molly Andrews, Dr. Bianca Oldershaw and Dr. Karen DeMaria. Junior bridesmaid was Grace Ball, niece of the groom.

The groom chose Dr. Bernard Frantz as best man. Groomsmen were Ryan Ball, nephew of the groom; Ryan Farrell, Matthew Kizis, Justin Malarkey and Idriss Diamaye.

The mother of the groom hosted an engagement party at the groom’s home for the couple. The bridal shower was given by mother of the bride and bridesmaids at The Mary Stegmaier Mansion in Wilkes-Barre. A rehearsal dinner was hosted by the bride and groom at Giancarlo’s in Buffalo, N.Y. An evening cocktail hour and reception was held at The Hotel Lafayette in Buffalo, N.Y.

The bride is a 2008 graduate of Holy Redeemer High School, a 2012 graduate of the University of Scranton with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology, and a 2017 graduate of the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. She is a dental resident at UB School of Dental Medicine and will practice in Buffalo, N.Y., when her residency ends in June.

The groom is a 2006 graduate of Coughlin High School and a 2011 graduate of Misericordia University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in business marketing. He is an account executive at Apex Dental Solutions in Buffalo, N.Y.

The couple met through a mutual friend in their hometown of Wilkes-Barre and moved to Buffalo, N.Y., when Rachel started dental school. They reside in Buffalo, N.Y., with their dog, Ellie, and parakeet, Perry.
